How to Massage the Back End of a Horse

There are three lines in the back end right over the glutes of the horse down into the back and directly in the back of the leg. Another line continues from the ribs down into the side of the leg and into the poverty groove. A third line stems from the point of hip and around the right side of the horse.

Rotation, sedation, cross fiber, percussion and kneading are effective on the inside of the cheek where the tail is located. Pull the semitendinosus muscle. Continue with cross-fiber technique, come inside the leg and do cross fiber right up into the groin into the attachment point. There’s a lot of fiber to be found in there.

Once you release the back end of the horse, often times one will observe the passing of gas — a sign of movement, energy and relaxation.
